Fashion Friday: The Fate of Lindy Bop

About 3 weeks ago You Tuber Emily the Vintage Doll posted an episode of Monday Coffee with The Doll, she talked about the online pinup store Lindy Bop going down the tubes. She had talked about being sponsored by them back in the day and how their quality was really good. Later on they switched owners and the quality wasn't so great for more on check out the video

Right after watching the video I went onto the Lindy Bop site and found this:

Now when I try to go onto the site it doesn't load. If you go to their Instagram you get basically get the same message on their recent photo which was two weeks ago. What's interesting, if you look on past posts, you can see they were offering various discounts on the products.

Was this shutdown coming?  Let's look my research shall we?

March 10th: They hold a give away
March 12th: They released a denim line
March 14th: First 50% off  flash sale
March 18th: The giveaway winners announced (also the first post the comments were off)
March 23rd: Another 20% off sale
March 25th: $10 dresses
March 27th: $10 dresses continued
April 3rd: Is their final outfit post
April 6th: The statement is released.

Upon further research, dating March 18th and moving forward, I counted about 20 posts that the comments WERE TURNED OFF. Even one post had comments (March 30th) but it looks like they were turned off and replies are hidden.

Hmmmmm

Upon checking their Facebook page, the last post actual post from the brand was April 3rd. And if you click on their "About" section the same thing shows up that was on Instagram and the website:

It says December 2017? (Which my guess is that was when they created their Facebook page?)

According to comments on the April 3rd Post it says they went bankrupt.

I have only ordered from Lindy Bop a total of 3 times. The first order the dress didn't fit. I should have sized up but I was really disappointed and I didn't return it because Lindy Bop was in the UK. I ended up selling the dress and a swap/sell. The dress seemed of good quality at the time.

Next, I ordered a petticoat from them. I remembered to size up this time. I was impressed by how fast I got the item. The petticoat wasn't as fluffy as I like but it did the job. I still have it.

Last, I ordered a jumpsuit May 2019. I got it in a 5X it fits decent and seemed okay. I haven't worn it out or anything. I did notice the jumpsuit was spandex quality but really thought nothing of it. With that, I can't really give a full disclosure about them.

What is disappointing is that Lindy Bop was pretty affordable and also very size inclusive. They did have a USA site (where I got my pieces) if they were planning to close, why wasn't any customer's contacted? In fact, the last email I got from them was January 2019 (according to my email history).

Was this because of COVID19? Can't say for certain. Or it could be true what Emily said that they started to go downhill after they changed owners (which was stated in the video) and may of had a ton of problems behind the scenes we don't know about.

RIP Lindy Bop,

Miss Mag Nificent
